People who drink more water have an easier time losing weight

Water might just be the miracle dieters have long been waiting for. Thus, specialists say those who drink more of it have an easier time losing weight.

A review of 11 studies focusing on weight loss and water consumption shows that people who are struggling to lose weight can achieve better results provided that they drink at least two cups of water before each and every meal.

When asked to comment on these findings, Professor Brenda Davy argued that water most likely promotes weight loss because it drowns down hunger pangs.

By doing so, it helps dieters better control their daily intake of calories, Daily Mail explains.

Another specialist, Rebecca Muckelbauer, agrees with this theory that water consumption helps people feel full for longer periods of time, the same source informs us.

However, she wishes to stress that, the way she sees things, there might be one other explanation for why water makes diets more efficient than they normally would be.

In an interview with the press, Rebecca Muckelbauer argued that increased water consumption could trigger a phenomenon known to the scientific community as water-induced thermogenesis.

What the researcher is referring to is the fact that, in order to process water, the human body needs to burn energy. The more water a person drinks, the more energy is burnt and the slimmer one's waistline gets.

“Drinking water itself increases energy expenditure of your body. It has an energy consuming effect,” the specialist believes.

Whatever the reason, the fact remains that water can prove an unexpected ally in the fight against excess pounds. It's cheap, easy to come by and, as this new research has shown, quite efficient.

The only possible drawback is not remembering that, when not combined with a healthy diet and regular physical exercise, water more often than not does very little to help one lose weight and feel healthy.
