A recent SouthPeak Games report brings news of a Dream Pinball 3D heading to the PC, Wii and Nintendo's popular handheld system, the DS, in Spring, this year. The game promises "the most intense visuals and ball physics a pinball game has ever seen," being developed by veteran studio Topware.

SouthPeak Games' great looking pinball sim is said to create an authentic pinball experience with refined controls and particularities that make the most out of each of the three launching platforms (PC, Wii and DS). How come the PSP isn't getting it? What, is Sony mad at SouthPeak? Or is it the other way around..? Don't ask why I'm saying this, I just see Dream Pinball 3D as a great PSP title too.

Anyway. Dream Pinball 3D boasts some six table themes, several different ball options, multi-ball power-ups and the most intense visuals and ball physics a pinball game has ever seen, according to the official report.

The Wii version of course makes great use of the Wii Remote and its motion-sensing capabilities to take the gameplay to a whole new level. And since the DS also sports some nifty controlling qualities, this version includes intuitive touch screen control options. The visuals (as you can see in the image above) couldn't have been crisper, for a DS game anyway. The game is 3D too. Last, but not least, the PC version offers even better looks, and precise flipper controls using a mouse-and-keyboard control scheme.

"Everyone loves pinball. It is an unusual kind of entertainment in that it bridges hardcore and casual gamers, while translating very well to videogames," said Melanie Mroz, CEO of SouthPeak Games. "We are going to give the medium the respect it deserves."

So remember, Dream Pinball 3D is being developed by industry veteran Topware studio, with a release date set for Spring 2008. The game with the same name launches for PC, Wii and DS, featuring different controls for each platform.
