Music games have seen a massive increase in popularity in the last few years, as titles such as Guitar Hero or Rock Band have spawned a huge number of fans who gladly rock out to their favorite tracks all in the comfort of their own living room.

As the dust has barely settled on the Guitar Hero: World Tour title released by Activision and the hype is reaching high levels for the upcoming Guitar Hero: Metallica game, the company isn't slowing down and has just revealed a few details about the future Greatest Hits release in the already famous franchise.

The title, which will be developed by the Beenox studio and published by the large corporation, will include the most popular songs from all of the previously released titles like Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero II, Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s and Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. All of them will now be adapted to full band play as players could only play the guitar part in these games.

Now, Paul Gadbois, the producer of the game, has revealed a few of the tracks that will be appearing in this standalone release and the sad news that the songs won't be transferable to the World Tour iteration in the series. Also while the release will have 48 songs readily playable off the disk, it will support the user-generated content created using the GHTunes tool found in GH: World Tour. Famous rockers like Metallica's Lars Ulrich or Guns N'Roses' Axl Rose will also appear in the scenes that will be played during the songs.

Here are the first tracks that were confirmed by Gadbois to appear in Greatest Hits:

Alice in Chains – Them Bones Queen – Killer Queen Poison – Nothin' But A Good Time Rage Against The Machine – Killing in the Name Twisted Sister – I Wanna Rock Joan Jett and The Blackhearts – I Love Rock N Roll Heart – Barracuda Dragonforce – Through the Fire and Flames

Already the track list is looking very solid and long-time GH fans will surely want to buy this future release and get a chance to play these great songs with all of the instruments possible. Look forward to the release of this title on the PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii this June for a retail price of 59.99 dollars on the higher-end consoles, while for the Wii and PS2 the price tag will be 49.99 and 39.99 dollars respectively.
