Capcom has confirmed that it’s going to release a demo for its upcoming Dragon’s Dogma fantasy role playing game, thus giving potential customers a taste of the new experience coming from the Japanese company.

Dragon’s Dogma is Capcom’s first foray into traditional “Western-style” role playing games, adopting a medieval setting instead of the traditional futuristic ones seen in other Japanese RPGs.

We’ve already heard and seen quite a few things about the game up until now, but Capcom has just confirmed that a demo for Dragon’s Dogma will be released shortly before the game’s actual launch in May on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms.

“We’re pleased to confirm that a playable demo of Dragon’s Dogma will be available to download from Xbox Live and PlayStation Store ahead of the game’s release,” Capcom revealed. “The demo will let you create your own character and main Pawn using the game’s incredibly in-depth character creation tools and when you buy Dragon’s Dogma you will then be able to export both these characters into the full game.”

Besides your own character and customized pawn, you’ll be given two pre-configured ones and tasked with completing two challenging encounters using two different classes, either a Fighter or a Strider. Check out some details about both of them below.

“A melee specialist skilled in both attacks and counterattacks, as the Fighter you will make your way through underground tunnels and chambers before taking on the deadly Chimera in a Prologue quest, set before the events of the main game. Swift and nimble, the Strider’s weapons of choice are bow and daggers; use them well if you are to defeat the mighty Griffin in the open plains surrounding the capital of Gransys.”

The final version of Dragon’s Dogma is out on May 22, in North America, and May 25, in Europe, for the PS3 and Xbox 360. All new copies of the game will also have a special voucher for early access to the Resident Evil 6 demo.
