On December 19, Nuance Communications, Inc. announced the availability of a beta flavor of their Dragon Mobile Assistant 2.0 for Android devices, with a nice range of enhancements packed inside.

One of the most important features in the new application release is the added support for Android 2.3 devices, which makes the software available for more users than before.

At the same time, the new beta release brings forth support for some new features, including the opening of third-party applications, along with playing on-device music, and setting alarm.

The new application release was also packed with a series of bug fixes, all of which are expected to become available in the final software flavor.

“The new Dragon Mobile Assistant builds on top of the popular Dragon Go! directed search experience, adding a totally new, conversational design and the most popular personal assistant features,” the company explains.

“Dragon lets you speak naturally to access a wide range of content, and makes it easier to do everyday tasks on your phone when your hands are busy.”

With Dragon, users can take advantage of completely hands-free controls, courtesy of the new Driver Mode included in the application.

“When turned on, you can wake up Dragon with by saying ‘Hi Dragon,’ and the assistant will offer you more spoken guidance to help you out when you can't look at the screen,” the company continues.

Dragon was also designed to read incoming messages aloud, thus enabling users to access favorite features in more places than before.

For those out of the loop, we should also note that Dragon Mobile Assistant is available for download for free, and that it can also be used totally free, with no limitations in tow. Users interested in taking the mobile application for a spin will find it available for download through this link.
