Bandai Namco has announced that their next entry in the Dragon Ball series of video games is titled Dragon Ball Xenoverse.

The European division of the famed Japanese video game publisher has revealed the news, informing that Dragon Ball Xenoverse is currently in development for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 platforms.

Anime makers seem to love fancy concepts such as multiverses, omniverses and xenoverses, the explanations for which are way too complicated for cartoons about punching people in the face to tackle. Nonetheless, here we are.

The game is being worked on by the same development team that also created the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai series and co-developed the Street Fighter 4 and Super Street Fighter 4 games, Dimps.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse intends to bring all the incredible battles between Goku and his biggest enemies, Vegeta, Frieza, Cell and many more, with a completely redesigned gameplay.

The game will include a new world setup, a mysterious futuristic city and many other features, including a completely new fighter, wearing a Capsule Corp jacket, which is told to be a key part of the upcoming game's story.

Bandai Namco showed off a demo for Dragon Ball: Xenoverse at the E3 convention taking place in Los Angeles, and more details related to the upcoming production transpired.

Players can transform in a stage, and the gameplay mechanics include the canceling of special moves, as confirmed by Dimps' Masashi Kashino.

Special moves are done by pressing the D-pad, and then square to do a Kamehameha, and X triggers an energy charge, according to Siliconera.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse also features dialogue while the characters are fighting, and everything will be voice-acted.

The game has received quite a few upgrades, most notably in the visuals department. Characters have facial expressions which change when they hit an opponent and when they take damage, just like they do in the Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm series.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse also features detailed particle effects, courtesy of the Havok and Silicon Studios Yebis2 engine, taking care of all the energy blasts.

The fighting game is currently in development for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 and PS4 platforms, with its release scheduled for sometime in 2015.
