The development team at BioWare has already revealed that one of the major new characters for Dragon Age: Inquisition is called Vivienne and the studio is now ready to offer some more details about how the unique look of the so-called Madame de Fer was achieved.

In an official blog post, the company explains that a team or artists and developers have worked together in order to make sure that each detail of the new game character reflects her role in the game and her powerful personality.

Rion Swanson, a senior artist at BioWare, states that, “Vivienne was a truly great character to build. I was hooked from the very beginning when I saw the first concept.”

The developer says that concept artists iterated through a variety of initial designs in order to achieve some of the main elements of the Vivienne look that were then developed until the character reached its current incarnation.

Swanson adds, “In the end, I think we achieved quite a dramatic look for this strong new character. The combination of sleek and powerful shapes with the ornate gold and fine fabrics gives Vivienne a pretty unique appearance.”

The developer believes that his team has achieved an interesting contrast with Vivienne because she uses flowing fabric in her appearance and mostly deals with enemies using magic, while having the proud moniker of Madame de Fer, or Iron Lady.

BioWare has already explained that the character occupies the position of leading enchanter in Orlais and the player-controlled characters will have to deal with her as they pursue their ultimate goals.

The game will take gamers to a new set of lands as they try to close down a tear in the Fade that has opened up and allows demons to slide into the world of man.

They will also have to try to find a long-term solution for peace between the Chantry, the Templars and the Mages.

BioWare says that the Inquisition title will have the same tactical depth as the first experience in the Dragon Age series, while offering a strong focus on the most important character, like the second title in the franchise.

Dragon Age: Inquisition will be launched at some point during the fall of this year on the PlayStation 4 from Sony, the Xbox One from Microsoft, current-gen consoles and the PC.
