Gamers can modify how staves look and work

The development team at BioWare and publisher Electronic Arts have been offering details about all the core mechanics of Dragon Age: Inquisition and recently the team has been talking more about the way crafting and customization options will influence the experience of each player as they get through the story.

One of the major additions in the new title is the masterworking system and the use of runes to create weapons for each class that involve powerful elemental effects.

Chris Pickford, producer on Dragon Age: Inquisition, answers questions on the official site and says, “An example is a masterwork material that gives a chance to cast Chain Lightning on a hit, shocking enemies and setting them up for a detonation attack such as Explosive Shot. Runes are exceptionally useful for targeting specific faction groups such as dragons, demons, and undead.”

Mike Laidlaw, the leader of the team, also says that base enchanting can add some interesting effects to a weapon.

Even the staves that mages use can be tweaked in interesting ways, and the developer adds that gamers can “change the shape of the bottom's blade and the grip, and as with every other modification, you can also build custom mods that apply exactly the properties you want and install them, should off-the-shelf purchased modifications not suit.”

Dragon Age: Inquisition wants the protagonist to feel unique

Dragon Age: Inquisition will give gamers a lot of options when it comes to the creation of the main character, with the classic fantasy races joined by the Qunari as a playable option.

Once players settle on their in-game identity, they will also be able to choose the party that they will take with them on adventures and the way they work together during combat, while also sending agents on smaller side quests to gain more power and items.

The crafting and the customization will allow them to use a range of resources to create armor and weapons that will add new tactical options and will make them more effective.

The main storyline will follow the attempt of the Inquisition to eliminate a tear in the Veil which is allowing a number of demons to enter the world of the living coming from the Fade.

Dragon Age: Inquisition will be out on November 18 in North America and three days later in Europe on the PC, the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One and last-gen consoles.
