The development team at BioWare has not said how many companions gamers will be able to recruit in the upcoming Dragon Age: Inquisition and is continuing to reveal potential party members at a rapid pace.

The newest potential recruit is Solar, a powerful mage who has been living in the wilderness for a long time and who has managed to gain a deeper understanding on the Fade and the creatures that reside within it.

On the official site, BioWare states that, "He mastered his magic without the help of tutors, spending years exploring the spirit realm of the Fade and coming to an understanding of its denizens that few others could claim. He would be happiest left alone to sleep in ancient ruins, searching for memories and knowledge that has been lost for ages, but the Breach in the sky threatens all worlds."

Solas is an elf and the fact that he has access to magical powers makes him doubly threatening for a number of the groups that populated the universe of Dragon Age: Inquisition, including the Chantry and the Templars.

The developers add that, "At a time when other mages flee into hiding, Solas has put his freedom at risk by emerging from the shadows to assist those who would combat the chaos. He will not stand idly by when his knowledge of the arcane could mean the difference between salvation and utter destruction."

So far, BioWare is not talking about the combat abilities of Solas, but his knowledge of the Fade probably means that he is capable of fighting the demons that are pouring through the breach.

The company will probably soon have an in-depth interview with one of the writers who have created the new character, offering fans more details about his vision of the world and his abilities on the battlefield.

Dragon Age: Inquisition will be launched on October 7 on the PC, the Xbox One from Microsoft, the PlayStation 4 from Sony and current-gen consoles.

The game is being created using the Frostbite 3 engine and BioWare says that the experience will mix the tactical options included in the first title in the series, Origins, and the focus on characters and their choices that was present in the sequel.

The game will have a bigger world than both previous installments put together and a more refined set of combat and dialog options for gamers to explore.
