The development team at BioWare says that the new multiplayer mode for Dragon Age: Inquisition is designed to allow gamers to find gold and new items as they explore a dungeon, but access to potions will be limited to getting them from chests that can be bought outside of missions.

The choice, according to the official site, has been made in order to give the group of four players who are working together an interesting set of challenges to deal with, constantly weighing when to use a consumable and how to deploy the powers of their characters.

BioWare states, “We are developing Dragon Age multiplayer with quick engagement in mind. We want it to be easy to play a round, acquire new loot, and jump back into the action. Now that you have new cool weapons and armor, why wouldn't you try another mission?”

Previously, the studio has also said that in the single-player mode most mages will only have limited powers to heal their fellow party members and gamers will have to rely on potions in order to keep their characters ready for battle.

At the same time, magic users will be able to use a new set of defensive abilities that can protect from damage, and the new Focus resource can also be used to take out enemies quickly and limit the damage they deal.

BioWare also says that crafting and some items will affect both the single and the multiplayer of Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Alas, no way to transfer content between two players will exist.

BioWare explains, “Crafting also lets you create new armors. If you craft a set of Alchemist Armor, you unlock that character, who can then open up a lot of possibilities on MP missions. You can also craft new armors for characters you already own. They will give your character a new special look but no extra stats.”

The developer seems to be determined to make it easy for gamers to ignore multiplayer if they want to only focus on the narrative of the role-playing game.

Dragon Age: Inquisition will be out on November 18 on the PC, the PlayStation 4 from Sony, the Xbox One from Microsoft and last-gen consoles.

BioWare has suggested that it does have some more surprises to reveal about the experience, although it’s unclear whether the info will be linked to the single or the multiplayer modes.
