Developer BioWare has launched a beta patch for the PC version of its role-playing game Dragon Age 2, aiming to fix some issues that the game has with computers that have just one computing core and other smaller problems.

Here are the included fixes as posted on the official BioWare site:

- Fixed save game issues on single core machines - Fixed game asking for non-existent drives - Fixed release control issues where some players were unable to unlock correctly - Fixed a Steam-specific issue related to VO not playing after switching languages.

The 1.01 beta patch for Dragon Age 2 can be downloaded from Softpedia.

The last fix is a bit puzzling because the Steam install of Dragon Age 2 does not actually support beta patches, meaning that gamers will have to wait for the digital distribution service to get a final version of the patch.

BioWare suggests that only those gamers that are directly affected by the problems described above should download and then apply the 1.01 beta patch.

The developers at BioWare are also saying that they are collecting problems with the game reported on the official forums by those who have been playing since launch and is working on a bigger patch that will solve as many of them as possible.

No timeframe for the release of the patch has been announced.

PC gamers will be the first one to get it and, until then, might also get more beta patches to try out, with those playing Dragon Age 2 on the Xbox 360 or on the PlayStation 3 needing to wait for the patch to go through the approval process of Microsoft and Sony.

I have been playing Dragon Age 2 since Friday and have not encountered any problems with the game so far.

We already have a series of Game Diaries for Dragon Age 2 ready for you to read on Softpedia.
