Dare to be Creative has updated its universal batch file converter for Mac OS X, Dragoman, to version 1.4, adding German localization. The developing team is now hard at work on adding localizations for French, Spanish, Italian and Russian.

“Ever wanted a single tool to hammer in those nails, tighten those screws and fix the plumbing? Dragoman is the ultimate convert toolbox for your Mac: it converts images, music files and archives,” explains Dare to be Creative.

If, for instance, you download some music but can't listen to those files on your mp3 player, Dragoman comes to your assistance by converting them into whatever your player supports. Just drag the music files into Dragoman's window and the app will take it from there. Of course, this is just how Dragoman converts music, because it does image files and archives as well.

For example, if a friend sends you a RAR file, but you need that converted to ZIP, or compressed to 7Zip, Dragoman can do it. Popular image formats are supported, including PDF, JPEG, PNG, TIFF and GIF. You simply drag the items in, pick a new format and drag them back out again. As soon as you're done adding the items you need converted, just sit back and let Dragoman convert all your files for you.

If you want to keep an eye on its progress, Dragoman also displays a bar that shows you the exact status of your file conversions. Dragoman can search for updates on the Internet, and will do so if you tell it to. Video support, HTML and source code file conversions have yet to be included in Dragoman, although Dare to be Creative said future versions would pack these enhancements. For the time being, more language localization is all this app is getting. Following November's update, which will include French, Spanish, Italian and Russian localization, you may expect the additional support.

Dragoman is available here for download. The software costs US$29.95, with a trial version also being available. It requires Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or later, and is a Universal Binary.
