The batch-converting app now handles files with uppercase extensions correctly

Not very long ago, Dare to be Creative, the folks behind iArchiver and iCombiner, released Dragoman, an easy to use batch converter for image, music and archive files. The useful app has been updated to fix some issues with certain TIFF images on PowerPC machines, and others. Dragoman works under Mac OS X 10.4 (or later) and is a Universal Binary, which means it runs just as smoothly on both PowerPC and Intel-based Macs.

Dragoman comes in handy when, for instance, you download some music files but can't listen to them on your mp3 player. What you do is drag them into Dragoman's window and tell the app to convert them into whatever your player supports.

The same goes with images and archives. For example, if a friend sends you a RAR file, but you need that converted to ZIP, or compressed to 7Zip, no prob, Dragoman can do it! The app also handles all the popular image formats too, including PDF, JPEG, PNG, TIFF and GIF. You simply drag the items in, pick a new format and drag them back out again. As soon as you're done adding the items you need converted, just sit back and do whatever you like while Dragoman converts all your files for you.

Even better is the fact that Dragoman also displays a progress bar that shows you the exact status of your file conversions, while the app is capable of updating itself, but will do so only if you give it the go-ahead. Sadly, video support, HTML and source code file conversions have yet to be included in Dragoman, although Dare to be Creative said future versions would pack these enhancements. Oh well, guess tweaks will do for now.

Speaking of which, Dragoman 1.3.1 fixes problems with certain TIFF images on PowerPC machines, the developers say. Also, the application now handles files with uppercase extensions (such as WAV or MP3) correctly.

You can take Dragoman for a spin by downloading this trial version of the app here, good for ten days.
