Last week saw the leak of the first trailer for Universal Pictures’ new Dracula movie, which is more of an origin story / retelling than what we’ve come to expect from the story of the world’s most famous vampire by Bram Stoker.

The official trailer is now out, just in case you missed it then. You will find it in full and in HD embedded below.

This time, Prince Vlad Tepes will become Dracula not because he denounces religion and condemns God, but by choice, because he’s desperate to save his family and his people.

Luke Evans stars as the handsome Prince / Dracula, while Dominic Cooper plays the Turkish sultan who’s after his lands, his riches and his people. When the sultan tells the Prince that his own son would have to join the new army, this is when he decides to seek some supernatural help.

So he does what any other man (or woman) would do in a similar situation: he climbs the highest mountain around because, in a cave at the top of it, he will find his solution.

All jokes aside, there resides an ancient vampire who’s more than willing to pass the gift of immortality to the eager Prince. You might not be able to tell it at first, but that’s Tywin Lannister from “Game of Thrones” (Charles Dance) underneath all that makeup.

If you like your vampire movies with a healthy side of action, then perhaps “Dracula Untold” is for you. I hope I’m wrong on this one, but it does feel to me like all this flash is being used to hide a certain B-movie quality about it.

We’ll see when the film is out, this October.
