Intel Macs also supported by the original WWII FPS game

Aspyr Media has announced the availability of Call of Duty Deluxe Edition for Intel Macs. The first-person shooter is now available as a download through Aspyr's digital distribution portal (GameAgent.com) and contains the original Call of Duty and its expansion pack, Call of Duty: United Offensive. Licensed by Activision, Call of Duty Deluxe costs $29.99 to own.

“In the war that changed the world, no one fought alone,” Activition says. “Experience the cinematic intensity of World War II’s epic battles including D-Day, the Russian Charge at Stalingrad and the Battle for Berlin.” The renowned developer and publisher of PC and console video games mentions the following main features for Call of Duty:

- Play through 24 epic, single-player missions on four interconnected campaigns, or go online for Axis versus Allies team-based multiplayer action. - Intense battlefield moments put you in the heat of the action, capturing the chaos of battle like never before. - Together with your squad, take on Nazi forces through a variety of authentic combat missions. - Move through the ranks, taking on more dangerous missions such as sniper missions and ambushes until you are promoted to tank commander.

As noted above, Call of Duty: United Offensive, the game’s original expansion pack, is included with the download. The main characteristics of the expansion pack include 13 new single-player missions, 11 new Multiplayer maps and three new modes, with vehicles including tanks and jeeps, the ability to fight in tanks, jeeps, motorcycles, or a bomber while working with your squad through snow and rain, using new weapons including flamethrowers and deployable machine guns, or by calling in artillery strikes.

Minimum system requirements include:

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4.11, 10.5.7; Processor: PowerPC G5 or Intel; CPU Speed: 1.6 GHz; Memory: 256 MB RAM; Hard Disk Space: 2.5 GB free disk space; Video Card: ATI Radeon 9800; NVIDIA GeForce 5200 (VRam 64 MB); Peripherals: Macintosh mouse and keyboard.

All supported video cards are: NVIDIA GeForce 5200, 6600, 6800, 7300, 7600, 8600, 8800, 9400, 9600, NVIDIA GeForce GT 120, ATI Radeon 9800, X600, X800, X1600, X1900, HD 2400, HD 2600, HD 3870.

Those wanting to make sure the game runs as smooth as possible should note that the recommended configuration is: CPU Speed: 2.0 GHz; Memory: 1 GB or higher; Video RAM: 128 MB. Intel integrated video chipsets are not supported, and nor are other CPU upgrades, except for Apple original CPUs. The game is also not supported on volumes formatted as Mac OS Extended (Case Sensitive).
