The folks at Skype have announced an important update for the iOS version of the social networking app, labeling it as a maintenance release mostly focused on fixing issues reported by customers worldwide.

“I'm glad to announce that we have just released an update for Skype for iPhone,” Raul Liive writes on the Skype Garage blog.

“Version 2.1.2 is a maintenance release, mostly focused on fixing issues you have been reporting to us,” he reveals.

Liive proceeds to list a number of other improvements. One of them is a new look for the settings menu.

The options have more precise descriptions now. A new settings option - Go Offline - is also available. “You can now choose the behavior of the application when it runs in the background,” explains Liive.

Skype 2.1.2 boasts improved event notifications, making all types of event notifications appear in a friendlier format.

Liive encourages fans to download the new version immediately, and provide feedback “by talking with us in our forums, or just comment on this blog post.”

The post ends with the complete changelog for Skype 2.1.2 which also includes a hefty list of known issues.

The issues Skype developers were able to address in this release are described below, as posted by Raul.
