The three Photoshop companion apps confirmed by Adobe earlier this year have finally arrived in the App Store for iPad, the company confirmed in a report.

In a report that hit the wires earlier today, Adobe Systems Inc. announced immediate availability of what the company calls ‘Photoshop Touch apps.’

Adobe Color Lava, Adobe Eazel and Adobe Nav specifically target the iPad and demonstrate the potential for new interaction between Photoshop and tablet devices, the Flash makers said.

A part of the Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 product family, Photoshop has been updated recently with compatibility code for the new interaction between the photography software and tablet devices like the iPad.

The purpose of the Photoshop Touch apps is to extend creative processes, Adobe said.

Color Lava, for instance, allows creatives to use their fingertips to mix colors on the iPad.

Thus they can create custom color swatches and themes to transfer back into Photoshop and use in their projects instantly.

The same person can also employ a second app, Eazel, to paint with their fingertips. Eazel takes advantage of cutting-edge painting technology Adobe said, which introduces a new kind of interaction between “wet” and “dry” paints.

Finally, Adobe Nav lets users select and control Photoshop tools from the iPad. With it, the tablet becomes an input surface where users can tailor the toolbar to their liking, browse and zoom in on up to 200 open Photoshop files, or create new ones.

The apps were created using the Adobe Photoshop Touch Software Development Kit (SDK), now a free download for anyone looking to build tablet apps that interact with Photoshop.

Color Lava, Eazel and Nav themselves are not free, but they are quite attractively priced - $2.99; $4.99; and $1.99, respectively.

In addition to supporting Apple’s iOS mobile operating system, the Adobe Photoshop Touch SDK also supports Android and Blackberry PlayBook devices.
