Evernote Corporation has announced that Evernote 2.0 for Mac OS X is officially out of Beta and available for download. Mac users get the ability to share and view notebooks that others have shared with them without leaving Evernote, use notebook stacks to organize notebooks by visually grouping them into stacks, a redesigned left panel, and more.

The three key features of Evernote 2.0 for Mac are detailed below.

Notebook sharing

According to the Mountain View, California-based software company, users get started by observing the changed left panel, which is now split into two tabs.

“There’s an Account tab, which refers to your own notes, and a Shared tab, which allows you to access all of Evernote’s sharing functions. Click the Shared tab to get started,” Evernote Corp. instructs.

Notebooks Stacks

In fact, this should have been the first feature detailed in our report - according to the folks at Evernote, better ways to organize notebooks was “one of the biggest requests.”

After acknowledging that keeping things tidy in Evernote can be tough (as fans of the app, we can confirm that it is), Evernote Corp. believes it has come up with the perfect solution - stacks.

“We’ve come up with a great solution for keeping your notebooks neat and organized: Notebooks Stacks. Stacks are a visual grouping for notebooks. Drop all your related notebooks into their own stacks, then view or collapse them as needed,” the company explains. Redesigned left panel “In addition to Stacks and Sharing, the left panel also got a redesign,” the company writes on its noteworthy blog.

The post reveals that version 2.0 has a great focus on improving the experience of users who have lots of notebooks, tags and saved searches.

Users can now resize and minimize sections within the left panel, scroll within each section, and add or remove elements from the left panel by clicking on the gear icon at the bottom of the left panel.

The developers of Evernote also throw in a handy tip for those who believe the Evernote interface is still too cluttered: “If you never use the Attributes panel, for instance, just get rid of it and reclaim some vertical space.”
