Following the general availability of Dynamics CRM 2011, Microsoft is also providing developers with the necessary tools to start building for the latest iteration of its customer relationship management offerings.

The Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Software Development Kit (SDK) is now available for download, free of charge. Devs interested in grabbing the SDK need to head over to the Microsoft Download Center.

The Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 SDK has jumped to version 5.0.1 now that the Dynamics CRM 2011 has been released.

“We’ve just updated the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 SDK to version 5.0.1 – you’ll find it live on both the download center and on MSDN. We’re continuing to add new topics and samples, and expand on what we’ve already got,” revealed Amy Langlois, from the Microsoft CRM SDK team.

“For a complete list of changes, see the Release History on the first page, but here are a few highlights:

•Binaries updated to the latest version

•Samples now work on IFD deployments with improved authentication code

•New topics, samples and walkthroughs for using the SOAP endpoint for Web resources

•New PowerShell information and samples

•Updates and additions based on feedback from customers and reviewers,” Langlois added.

It’s critical to note that developers can take advantage of the SDK not only for Dynamics CRM 2011, but also for the Cloud flavor of this CRM release.

In January 2011 Microsoft launched Dynamics CRM Online worldwide providing what the company calls Dynamics CRM 2011 as an on-demand service from its own datacenters.

“This SDK contains a wealth of resources, including code samples, which are designed to help you build powerful vertical applications using the Microsoft Dynamics CRM platform.

“It is a guide for developers writing solutions, server-side code, client applications and extensions, custom business logic, plug-ins, integration modules, custom workflow modules and more.

“The SDK contains an architectural overview of Microsoft Dynamics CRM, the entity model, security model, Web services, and sample code,” the company added.
