Get your update right now, instead of waiting for the automatic OTA file to arrive

As the Android KitKat 4.4.1 update has been rolled out for the Nexus 7 2013 LTE edition and Nexus 7 2013 Wi-Fi version a few days ago, it was just a matter of time for the Nexus 10 to get the same treatment.

You can still wait for the automatic OTA update to arrive on your device, but if you want to enjoy the perks of the new build right now, you can do so.

Before beginning the process, you should have the Android SDK installed, which has the latest adb and fastboot you’ll be needing for flashing. Users will have to use a microUSB cable in order to execute adb sideload and fastboot flash.

But if you plan to download the 51.3MB update directly on your tablet and then flash from recovery, you won’t be needing that USB cable, after all. Be sure you are running the stock Nexus 10 ROM, KRT16S before you begin.

It appears that one of the things you’ll be noticing once you perform the update is that the default app for managing the photos snapped with your camera is now Google+ Photos app, instead of the stock Android Gallery app.
