Twitter Inc. has ousted a new iPad client with new profiles with header photos, photo streams on profiles and events, as well as “other improvements, polish, and fixes.”

“We’ve rebuilt the app from the ground up to make it fast, beautiful and easy to use. Twitter for iPad brings you closer to what’s happening all over the world, and makes it easy to keep up with the news you need to read, the photos you want to see and the people you follow,” says Sung Hu Kim, product manager.

In Twitter 5.0 users can use their timeline to expand tweets with a single touch and view large photos and rich videos, as well as web page summaries.

“Dive into the content with another tap to see the photo, play the video or read links from the web in fullscreen mode,” says Sung Hu Kim.

You can now track your interactions with other people in easier ways, as well as read news stories that are popular within your network.

You can even stay in top of Tweets and accounts that are favorited and followed by people you know. Same goes for trending topics and new accounts.

Probably the best feature is the personalization effort on behalf of the Twitter development team. You can now make your account even more unique by adding a new header photo to your new profile.

You can change it anytime, and it will be displayed consistently above your Tweets on iPad, mobile apps and twitter.com.

“You can also remember the moments you’ve shared on Twitter by swiping through your photo stream on your profile or tapping photos to go fullscreen,” says Sung Hu Kim.

Twitter 5.0 is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad and requires iOS 5.0 or later to work.
