World of Warcraft has just received patch 4.2, a brand new update called "Rage of the Firelands," which adds a new quest line, all new raids and overhauls some of the core features of the massively popular online role-playing game.

Blizzard's World of Warcraft has been losing a few of its subscribers recently, but the company is certain that many are going to return now, as the new major patch for the game, dubbed Rage of the Firelands, brings plenty of things to do, both for experienced players but also for those that have yet to reach the level 85 cap.

"World of Warcraft Patch 4.2, Rage of the Firelands, is coming soon to a realm near you! With a new raid, a legendary questline, all-new raid tier and PvP armor sets, the most diverse daily questing experience to date, major story developments, PvP Season 10, user interface enhancements, and much more, patch 4.2 brings Azeroth a little something for everyone."

First and foremost, we have new 10 and 25-man raids in the Firelands, during which players need to engage in six boss fights before having a chance to battle the evil firelord Ragnaros, and earn some very attractive loot, ranging from themed armors to a non-legendary version of his mace, Sulfuros.

Another major addition brought by patch 4.2 to World of Warcraft is a special Encounter Journal, which gives players instant access to information about raid or dungeon bosses, from what loot they drop to what sort of attacks they have.

At the launch of update 4.2, the Encounter Journal will have data on the Firelands raid, the revamped Troll dungeons from patch 4.1 as well as the rest of the Cataclysm raids and dungeons, and Blizzard hopes to include information about all of the encounters in WoW with a later update.

New daily quest hubs have also been added to the Firelands, which will offer three out of six quests to users, at random, in order to keep things interesting. Once players gain access to the Hyjal area, they can earn currency to unlock quest hubs, which will appear only to them, thanks to WoW's phasing system.
