Wargaming.net has released World of Tanks Blitz, a free-to-play (for a while) MMO action game inspired by the PC version of World of Tanks. The title features over 90 tanks from Germany, the United States, and the USSR, and an advanced progression system.

“Drawing inspiration from the PC version, World Of Tanks Blitz is built specifically for optimal online mobile gameplay and is currently available on your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch,” says Wargaming.net.

Players will get to hop behind the wheel of more than 90 iconic German, US and USSR tanks with the ability to improve the tank’s performance with modules, equipment, and consumables, as well as to manage your crew’s posts.

Featuring four different tank classes (light, medium, heavy, and tank destroyers), World of Tanks Blitz offers strategic 7v7 PvP online multiplayer gameplay across eight battle arenas inspired by real-life locations, including deserts, towns, and industrial areas.

Players further get an in-game chat client, detailed tutorials, the ability to invite friends to play online, in-game achievements, and no timers, energy bars, or fuel.

“With an impressive roster of over 90 massive tanks, stunning graphics, and intuitive touch-screen controls, World of Tanks Blitz makes it easy to jump into short, action-packed 7vs7 tank battles no matter where you are!” says the developer.

The game’s interface is localized in over a dozen different languages, of which Wargaming.net mentions English, Russian, German, French, Spanish, Polish, Finnish, Czech, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Turkish, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Japanese.

To download World of Tanks Blitz, your device will need to be running iOS 7.0 or later.

The developer doesn’t mention any specific hardware as being supported, therefore, the title should run on all types of iDevices that can handle the aforementioned firmware, namely: iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPad second generation, iPad third generation, iPad fourth generation, iPad Air, iPad mini, iPad mini with Retina display, and iPod touch fifth generation.

Despite being marketed as a free-to-play game, World of Tanks Blitz is actually not free at all if you want the full experience. Various in-app purchases are presented throughout the experience, some as high as $74.99 (€55) worth.

Also worth noting is that World of Tanks Blitz comes in at a massive 700 MB, which means your device needs to have at least twice that amount of free space at installation time (because of the way iOS unpacks and installs software).
