Blizzard Entertainment has released the second major update for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. Dubbed Patch 4.2, Rage of the Firelands, the content-update includes a new story and raid, a legendary quest line, new raid tier and PvP armor sets, more daily questing options, and PvP Season 10.

“World of Warcraft Patch 4.2, Rage of the Firelands is here!”, Blizzard has announced. “[…] patch 4.2 has brought Azeroth a little something for everyone.”

The new release marks the first time a new free-to-play option is included. Dubbed World of Warcraft Starter Edition, the option replaces the 10- and 14-day trial options.

Thanks to the new addition, new WoW adopters will be able to play the base game for free up to a maximum character level of 20.

To keep the game alive, Blizzard has also added new daily quest hubs to the Firelands, which offer three out of six quests to users.

“If you want to know what’s what before traversing the new content and features, we encourage you to wade through all of the patch 4.2 information we’ve released,” says Blizzard.

A 'Rage of the Firelands' patch trailer is also available for watching on the WoW blog.

WoW: Cataclysm requires Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard) or 10.6.x (Snow Leopard), an Intel processor, 2GB RAM or higher, around 25GB of available HD space and a broadband Internet connection.

In addition to announcing Patch 4.2 and all the goodies it delivers, Blizzard also introduced a new digital Battle Chest, offering the original game and the Burning Crusade expansion for $19.99.

You can get the Battle Chest from Blizzard's online store.

Existing World of Warcraft players will, of course, receive all the content and features of the Burning Crusade expansion for free.
