WordPress 3.2 has only been out for a week and there's already an update. WordPress 3.2.1, as you can expect, is a small bug-fixing release, bringing with it some last minute changes and fixes for issues that somehow crept past the testing phase.

"After more than a million downloads of WordPress 3.2, we’re now releasing WordPress 3.2.1 into the wild," WordPress developer Andrew Nacin announced.

"This maintenance release fixes a server incompatibility related to JSON that’s unfortunately affected some of you, as well as a few other fixes in the new dashboard design and the Twenty Eleven theme," he explained.

You can check out the full list in the changelog, there aren't that many of them. But the ones that did get fixed were important enough for WordPress to release an update now, most likely because they were affecting quite a lot of people.

If you haven't gotten around to updating to WordPress 3.2, then this is as good a time as any. You probably should too, WordPress 3.2 is faster in many aspects and also introduces several features you may find useful.

Among the big changes are a redesigned Dashboard, with a cleaner layout and easier access to more sections, and a new full-screen, distraction-free editor that enables you to concentrate on the writing while removing everything you don't need from the screen. There's also a new default theme.

If not for the new features and the speed bumps, you should probably update for security reasons, WordPress 3.2 will get security patches throughout its lifetime while the previous releases have already been dropped from support.

"If you’ve already updated to 3.2, then this update will be even faster than usual, thanks to the new feature in 3.2 that only updates files that have been changed, rather than replacing all the files in your installation," WordPress explained.
