Following the general availability deadline of Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 RTM, Microsoft also released the Multilingual User Interface (MUI) Language Packs for the operating system. The Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 Multilingual User Interface Language Packs are now live on the Microsoft Download Center, enabling customers running the platform plus the first upgrade to easily change the language across the OS, if they so require.

As was the case with the previous releases of the MUI language packs, the latest resources are offered free of charge.

According to Microsoft, the download is designed to be used in concert with Build 7601.17514.101119-1850 of Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, namely the RTM milestone.

“Multilingual User Interface (MUI) Language Packs (Windows Server Language Packs) enable a multilingual user interface in a Windows Server 2008 R2 environment.

“Adding one or more language packs to a Windows Server 2008 R2 image enables one or more languages in the installed Windows Server operating system, allowing corporations to deploy the same Windows Server 2008 R2 image worldwide while still providing localized user interfaces,” the software giant stated.

The RTM of Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 was announced officially just a few weeks ago, with the upgrade being released for all users on February 22nd, 2011.

At this point in time, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 RTM is offered both as a standalone download as well as via Windows Update.

“You can experience the new virtualization capabilities - Dynamic Memory in Hyper-V and RemoteFX - by downloading the service pack from the Microsoft Download Center if you are currently a Windows Server 2008 R2 customer,” a member of the Windows Server Division said.

“Alternatively you can visit the TechNet Evaluation Center for an evaluation copy of Windows Server 2008 R2 with SP1.”
