The RTW release of developer tool for the Windows Phone Mango platform

With Mango already rolling out on Windows Phone handsets out there, it was only a matter of time before Microsoft pushed out the final flavor of its new Windows Phone 7.1 SDK to developers.

Today, the Redmond-based software giant has made the new version of the developer tools available for download, so that developers can create and publish applications created for the new Windows Phone 7.5 Mango platform release.

Developers were already capable of doing so, as the company made available for them beta versions of the new developer tools, and the first applications designed specifically for Mango are already available for download / purchase in the Marketplace.

“The Release to Web (RTW) release consists of seven additional release languages, final finishing touches to the tooling experience, a handful of bug fixes, and additional upgrade logic to provide a better installation process for users coming from earlier tools,” Microsoft's Cliff Simpkins explains.

The new SDK offers support for a number of nine languages, including English (en-US), French (fr-FR), German (de-DE), Italian (it-IT), Japanese (ja-JP), Korean (ko-KR), Russian (ru-RU), Spanish (es-ES), and Traditional Chinese (zh-TW).

According to Microsoft, developers should strongly consider updating their WPDT 7.0 RTW or WPSDK 7.1 pre-release installations to the new SDK release.

Moreover, they should have a look at their App Hub accounts and see whether they can submit applications for the new markets where the Windows Phone Marketplace was made available.

Developers who haven’t submitted a Windows Phone 7.5 app yet should also consider making the move, since users have already started to show interest in the Mango OS flavor.

“If you already built and submitted your Windows Phone 7.5 app using the RC tools, you don’t need to do anything – there is no need to recompile and/or resubmit – it’s all good,” Cliff Simpkins notes.
