Hamrick Software has released a new version of its powerful scanning software application, VueScan. The new release adds over half a dozen fixes across the Mac and Windows versions of the software, including problems with Nikon scanners, a couple of HP units, and Canon scanners on Windows.

VueScan supports over 1,200 flatbed and film scanners and 321 digital-camera raw file types. The application is available for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux and assists users by automatically adjusting images to an optimum color balance, which reduces the need to work in Photoshop, or other graphic editing programs.

The software also includes a built-in color calibration of scanners, producing colors that look true-to-life. VueScan offers options for scanning faded slides and prints, batch scanning, IT8 color calibration and other advanced scanning features, as it supports more than 100 brands of negative films. New in version 8.5.34 are the following changes:

- Fixed problem with 'Input | Frame alignment' on Nikon scanners; - Fixed 'Page | Interleave' for easier two-sided ADF scanning; - Fixed problem with document feeder on HP ScanJet 5370; - Fixed problem with document feeder on HP ScanJet 7400; - Fixed problem with Plustek OpticFilm 7400 on Windows; - Fixed problem with some newer Epson scanners that use plugins; - Fixed problem with some older Canon scanners on Windows.
