Update adds option to control VLC's iTunes pausing behavior

VideoLAN has released a brand new version of its popular VLC Player with a truckload of fixes and tweaks specifically geared towards Macs, including a great deal of UI changes.

VLC 2.1.2 was released for all supported platforms today, including Mac, Windows, and Linux computers.

For Mac users in particular, VLC 2.1.2 fixes digital playback when more than one audio device is installed, and addresses stuttering when using sound enhancers or external audio devices. Silent playback is also fixed for Mac users.

When playback starts or is being paused, users will notice improved responsiveness. The same is available for iOS users, indicating that VideoLAN has prepared a new update for VLC users on iPhone and iPad.

The release notes also include a number of UI changes for the Mac version of the software. All these changes are listed below, as per the official changelog.

In the past couple of updates, VideoLAN has put a great deal of focus on improving the player’s localizations.

Version 2.1.2 adds updated support for over two dozen languages, including Basque, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Estonian, French, Hungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Italian, Kannada, Khmer, Lithuanian, Occitan, Persian, Polish, Romanian, Scottish Gaelic, Sinhala, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Tamil, Thai, Uzbek, and Welsh.
