14 DAY TRIAL // Thumbplay has announced that its cloud-based Thumbplay Music service is now available on iPhone OS 4, taking advantage of the software’s multi-tasking capabilities, allowing users to listen to their favorite tracks while engaging in other activities, such as checking e-mail, and surfing the web, the company said.
The service plays with a minimized screen in the background, and us the only cloud-based subscription music service available on all three major smartphone platforms — iPhone, Android and BlackBerry. Hence, its makers claim it is the most widely available US cloud-based music service.

Thanks to a built-in media player, the software offers a wide range of capabilities, which include:
- unlimited, on-demand access to any artist or album; - the ability to build a personal music collection with Favorites and effortless Playlist creation; - online and offline access; - genie for music discovery (a feature similar to Apple’s Genius functionality); - Music Sharing, which allows customers to stream songs live on Facebook (Twitter is on the way as well); - the ability to find music by artist, song, album or genre; - the ability to import existing iTunes playlists within Thumbplay Music's companion desktop app; - a three-day trial; subscriptions are then available for $9.99/month.
Thumbplay Music is now at version 2.0.8, adding the much-awaited multi-tasking support. The software actually requires only iOS 3.0 and a supported device (iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad) but iOS 4.0 is required to enable multi-tasking.
