Since we’re on the PlayStation topic today, we figured why not inform readers that Sony recently launched its official PlayStation iOS application for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad users.

In December 2011, PlayStation.com Portal Manager Emmanuel Orssaud announced that an official PlayStation app was to be released for iOS and Android devices “very soon.”

In its initial (1.0) form, the app was said to offer the ability to check out PlayStation Network trophies, the ability to stay up to date with friends’ games and online status, as well as to discover the latest games and news.

Take the incredible world of PlayStation everywhere you go.

The official PlayStation app is your one-stop source to keep you ahead of the game, no matter where you are.

Sign in with your PlayStation Network Sign in ID. If you don’t have a PSN account, you can create one here eu.playstation.com/registration.

According to Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, gamers will be able to check out PlayStation Network trophies and keep up to date with friends’ games and online status, discover all the latest games, news and hardware for PlayStation 3, PSP and PlayStation 2 etc.

In this version (1.0) you can: - Keep up to date with your trophies, friends’ games and online status. - Check out all the latest games, news and hardware. - Read all exciting announcements from PlayStation.Blog

Since the app is only targeted at Europe for now, gamers will only be able to read the announcements on the European PlayStation.Blog.

Users will also be able to share their favorite products or news with friends on Facebook, Twitter or via e-mail, according to the original announcement.

The PlayStation Official App is free dow download and install on any iPhone, iPod touch or iPad running iOS 4.0 or later.
