According to Northern Softworks, Snow Leopard Cache Cleaner can tune Internet and file cache settings, implement ram disks, and clean out various cached and stale data, in order to improve system performance. Including tools to help optimize files and memory, sLCC can also recover wasted disk space by eliminating language localization files and slimming Universal Binaries, just like MacPaw’s well-known cleaning utility, CleanMyMac.
Snow Leopard Cache Cleaner also gives you access to functions like turning off Spotlight or Dashboard, or turning on a Login Items Folder. Bootable Emergency Disks can also be created with this all-in-one maintenance and cleaning utility. These include system repair utilities and sLCC's powerful cache-cleaning functions. “If disaster strikes, the power of Snow Leopard Cache Cleaner is available at the command prompt in Single User Mode,” Northern Softworks adds. Lastly, sLCC ships with the ClamAV antivirus built in, while adding three layers of protection of its own.
A demo version of sLCC is available for free download. Registered users also get a portable version that can be installed on a flash drive or iPod. The portable version of Snow Leopard Cache Cleaner runs on any supported Mac and is “a great tool for testing hard drives, screen pixels, batteries, ram, and more before buying a machine,” Northern Softworks explains.
Although the software is called “Snow Leopard Cache Cleaner,” the Universal app can carry out maintenance on systems running Mac OS X versions as low as 10.3.9 (Panther). New in version 5.0 is (of course) Snow Leopard compatibility.
