Mobile phone users who are fond of the popular VoIP application Skype have now a reason to rejoice as the gold version of Skype 3.0 is available for download for Windows Mobile-powered handsets. The software solution, which has been up until now in beta, has reached version 3.0.0.256 and comes with only a few changes from the previously available 3.0.0.100 Beta, yet with a wide range of improvements when compared to version 2.5.

Some of the most important features of the new version would be the SMS and file transfer capabilities. To be more precise, Skype 3.0 offers users a new option to stay connected with their friends and family as they will be able to send text messages right from the application, anywhere around the globe, while roaming charges will be avoided in case users choose to text on Skype from a WiFi zone. Moreover, the solution now provides the possibility to send files while on the go.

And we should not forget the fact that Skype comes, as always, with low rates, enabling users to enjoy all of its features at low costs. Those who would like either to send SMS or to enable file transfers can do so via small buttons that are present on the application's interface. SMS can be sent using Skype Credit, either from the contact list or from the Menu options.

Compared to the previously available 2.5 version of the application, Skype 3.0 features a series of improvements as well, including an Add to Contacts Wizard, Dial Helper, Emoticons and Hyperlinks support in mood messages/about me, the option to block users from search results, a new user interface for Status tab, history and chat, as well as the option to remove the Skype folder from Application Data during uninstallation.

Those who would like to try out the new version of Skype can find it available for download on Softpedia as well, either for Windows Mobile Smartphones, or for Pocket PCs.
