14 DAY TRIAL // At just a little over a week after the release of Opera 11.50, users can get a taste of the next iteration of the Opera browser, version 12.00. Early adopters can now download the first preview of codenamed Wahoo, the label slapped on what will end up as Opera 12.00 when it’s finalized.
Opera 12.00 Codenamed Wahoo Build 1017 is currently up for grabs, and a member of the Opera Desktop team stressed the fact that Opera 11.50’s successor is still at a very early stage in the development process, pre-Alpha.
As such, Opera 12.00 Build 1017 pre-Alpha should be deployed and used in testing environments only and not into production.
“This is a development snapshot: It contains the latest changes, but may also have severe known issues, including crashes, and data loss situations. In fact, it may not work at all,” the Opera Desktop team representative added.
End users running Opera should stick with version 11.50 at least for the time being and avoid all the hassles that come with the pre-Alpha of v12.00.
“Since the weather outside of Opera’s HQ is somewhat tropical (relatively warm, with pouring rains), our developers were able to catch one of the fastest tropical fishes in the world,” the Opera Desktop team member added.
“So today we are happy to present you with the very first snapshot of our next major release, codenamed Wahoo (what will eventually become version 12). It’s currently in its embryo pre-alpha state and only includes some important bug fixes and overall polishing, with all the fresh and juicy stuff coming a bit laters.”
With codenamed Wahoo just starting to cook over in Norway in the Opera Software ovens, it will still be some time before users will be able to enjoy this new browsing dish.
