Opera Software recently released the first release candidate for Opera 10, pointing to a September 1st launch for the final version of Opera 10 for Mac OS X and PC. Most recently, Opera Software has issued a second release candidate of Opera 10, adding stability fixes and more.

“The Opera 10 release candidate is feature complete, with a surprising array of new features, a fresh look and feel, a new application icon, and enhanced speed and performance,” Opera Software said when introducing the first RC of the popular web browser. “[...] Opera has always been about speed and performance. Opera 10 is now much faster on resource intensive pages such as Gmail and Facebook and is more than 40% faster than Opera 9.6. Web developers can enjoy Web Fonts support, RGBA/HSLA color and new SVG improvements,” the company added.

As users should know, Opera 10 features a new bandwidth-booster for slow Internet connections called Opera Turbo. A significantly improved Opera Mail can also be found with this early version, as are thumbnail tabs, enhancements to Opera’s flagship feature – Speed Dial (now gives users a chance to personalize their favorite online destinations and the overall look and feel of their start page) –, and more.

“The release candidate pushes us closer to the final launch of Opera 10,” Jan Standal, vice president of Desktop Products, Opera, shared. “We paid special attention to the mail client, which is one of our most enduring and popular features. Now, we are very close to releasing the best browser in Opera's long history. We hope everyone who has helped us test our browser thus far will put the release candidate through its paces. With everyone's help, Opera 10 will surprise a lot of people with its speed, stability and powerful features.”
