The latest releases of Opera 10.70 have been synchronized across all supported platforms, for the second time since Opera Software announced the move. In mid-August 2010, Opera Software had started synchronizing the Build numbers for Opera 10.70 on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

Just a week ago, the Norway-based browser maker had offered the first development snapshot of Opera 10.70 with all Builds synchronized.

Opera 10.70 Build 9034 was available not only for Windows testers, but also for early adopters running Mac OS X and Linux.

The latest Build, 9036 is also delivered for all supported platforms. “We have fixed the mail panel regression introduced with the previous snapshot, and improved on dialog modality on Mac,” revealed Daniel Aleksandersen, from the Opera Desktop team.

“Mac users on older system will also find a very pleasant fix for ‘the slow typing issue.’ (Will be available in an upcoming Opera 10.62 update for the PowerPC crowd too),” Aleksandersen added.

"Opera Software also warned of a known regression issue introduced by the release, namely the fact that “the MSI installer may fail when upgrading an existing installation,” according to Aleksandersen.

On August 30, 2010, simultaneously with the release of Opera 10.70 Build 9036, Opera Software also announced that the next version of the browser will no longer support the PowerPC architecture.

“Starting with the Next version of Opera, as of the next snapshot release (due sometime later today), we are discontinuing the PowerPC architecture on Mac and Linux,” Aleksandersen added.

“Opera 10.6x will be the last release with support for this architecture. This is unfortunate, but with third party vendor support dwindling away, we can no longer keep developing Opera for this architecture."

“After ending support for PowerPC, we will be able to focus more on our high quality browser to make sure that it meets the need of the modern web browser user on the popular architectures.”
