14 DAY TRIAL // The second minor update for Opera 10.60 is now available for download. Opera Software has just announced that it has wrapped up Opera 10.62 and made the bits available for download. Just as its predecessor, Opera 10.62 is used to kick the current stable version of the browser up a notch, by enhancing reliability and delivering better protection for users.
Fact is that as all minor updates, Opera 10.62 is not designed to bring any new features to the table.
“Opera 10.62 has been released as a recommended upgrade offering security and stability enhancements,” revealed a member of the Opera Desktop team.
Changes introduced by Opera 10.62 impact the user interface, scripting and display, but also mail, news and chat functionality in addition to the security improvements.
According to the Norwegian browser maker, the latest refresh to Opera 10.60 is set up to deliver a patch for “an issue where malicious DLL files could be unintentionally loaded and allowed to run arbitrary code.”
At the same time, with Opera 10.62, a variety of problems that survived past the delivery of Opera 10.61 have now been dealt with.
Opera Software increased the number of MIME file types and suffixes supported for compressed tar files, but also resolved an issue in which cached items kept disappearing.
Users of Opera 10.62 will notice that both FastMail domains and hotmail.co.uk are now featured by default under the email auto-configuration.
In addition, there are also changes to the UI:
“- Selection jumps while backspacing in a rich text editor
- Opera closing when searching on hotels.com
- Not being able to click or select links or text
- Opera freezing when leaving a canvas, audio, or JavaScript game
- A missing plug-in dialog might cause Opera to close
- Bodyless documents causing Opera to close in accessibility mode
- Opera closing when downloading files in the link panel
- Loading of streaming plug-ins in Opera Turbo,” Opera Software revealed.
The Norway-based browser maker continues work on the successor of Opera 10.60, and it appears that the company has some surprises for users.
“Thanks to everyone who helped out with testing! If you are ready for more, we've got some nice things coming up on the 10.70 branch in the coming weeks and months,” the Opera Desktop team member added.
