After it managed to spoil its testers with two snapshots of Opera 10.0 Beta the past week, the Norwegian browser maker has made a new release available for download. Opera 10.0 Beta Build 1615 went live on June 30, 2009, and is designed to push the browser version a little closer to finalization. Build 1615 comes as the next step in the development process up from Build 1606, which was introduced on Friday, June 26. Opera has so far failed to make public a timeline for the delivery of upcoming browser snapshots or the availability deadline for the final milestone.

“Search engine synchronization should be working again now, but those who are upgrading from certain previous Opera 10 builds (including the Unite labs build) may have problems with some search engines not being synchronized. If this happens, try to set opera:config#OperaSync|SyncClientStateSearches to 0 (no restart required),” revealed a member of the Opera team. “All Solaris builds and some FreeBSD builds are missing. The Windows MSI package is English-only.”

But it's not just search engine synchronization that “should work again,” as Opera has put it, that is on the list of fixes. The browser maker has also introduced "robots.txt" as a measure designed to block search engines from indexing the Unite services by default. In addition, Opera 10.0 Beta Build 1615 features stability improvements with several Opera Unite crashes fixed.

But even with the latest Build, Opera 10.0 continues to be in Beta stage. However, the company is closing in on the Release Candidate stage. In RC Opera 10.0 will be pretty much done, with the Release to Web coming up. There are still additional issues that need to be worked out though, even with the latest build: “Some search engines may be missing when synchronizing with some previous Opera 10 builds. Text nearly invisible on inactive/greyed-out buttons. Native skin is work in progress. Some Windows users may get an error related opera6.ini in the system32 folder. This can be ignored,” the Opera team representative added.
