Concomitantly with the global availability of Office 365, Microsoft also released a range of resources designed to provide customers with insight into its new Cloud productivity services. Illustrative examples are the Service Descriptions documentation that is available for download free of charge from the software giant.

The “Office 365 for Enterprise Service Descriptions” and “Office 365 for professionals and small businesses Service Description” are both live on the Microsoft Download Center since late June 2011.

As the labels of the two downloads imply, customers can access additional details on the two flavors of Office 365, the one designed for small businesses and its bigger brother, tailored to enterprises.

“Office 365 for professionals and small businesses (Plan P1) is a set of web-enabled tools that lets you access your e-mail, important documents, contacts, and calendars from virtually anywhere and on almost any device,” Microsoft said.

“Designed for organizations with one to 25 employees (with a technical limit of 50 users maximum), the service brings together online versions of the best business-grade communications and collaboration tools from Microsoft plus Microsoft Office Web Apps at a price that small businesses can afford.”

Office 365 for professionals and small businesses (Plan P) is available for as little as $6 per user per month.

Enterprise plans for Office 365 vary in terms of cost from $10 to $27, although Microsoft is opened to negotiations, and revealed that it’s ready to be quite flexible in relation to the needs of its corporate customers.

The Office 365 for Enterprise Service Descriptions package provides details for all the components of the productivity suite, including: Exchange Online, Lync Online, Office Web Apps, Office Professional Plus, SharePoint Online, but also for support, migration, identity services as well as security and continuity.
