A brand new update for League of Legends has just been released by developer Riot Games, bringing forth a wide array of changes to the popular multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) title, from buffs to jungle heroes such as Elise, Evelynn, or Nautilus, to gates that are now present in each base and help defend them.

League of Legends has been around for quite some time now and developer Riot Games has kept it up to date with a variety of changes, bug fixes, and general improvements, such as the new Summoner's Rift map.

Patch 5.1 is now available for download

Now, a fresh update has just been released by Riot for all LoL users to download and enjoy, in the form of patch 5.1, according to the official website.

Many changes are included, starting with improvements to some champions in order to promote jungle diversity. More specifically, characters like Elise, Evelynn, Hecarim, Nautilus, and more have improved stats, attack, or other advantages that should make them more popular with players that want to spend time in the jungle. What's more, the Smite ability can now store two charges, with a new one appearing every 75 seconds. However, at the start of a match, Smite comes with just one charge and the second one should appear at the 1:40 mark.

Many changes are made to the core gameplay

What's more, Riot also made some big changes to the core gameplay, altering the turret aggro mechanic, while adding gates to the bases in the game. These gates function more or less as the virtual ones in Blizzard's Heroes of the Storm do, allowing defending players to pass through them while acting as a wall for attacking players.

One of the big neutrals in League of Legends, Baron Nashor, is also tweaked extensively by the new update, as he now spawns with less health (6,400 as opposed to 8,800) and gets an additional 180 added to it every minute. He deals less damage at automatic attacks but also less when using his area-of-effect abilities.

Many other changes are included in the new patch, so download it right now via the official game client.
