A brand new update has just gone live for Diablo 3 today, in the form of patch 2.0.6, which overhauls the crafting system and improves the drop rate for legendary set items of certain classes, while buffing the Monk and all of its current class-specific gear.

Diablo 3 was launched two years ago for the PC and Mac, and, since then, Blizzard has brought it to other platforms while releasing different updates for the original versions, not to mention the recent Reaper of Souls expansion that featured plenty of new content and gear.

Now, while Blizzard is still working on the long-awaited patch 2.1.0, the studio has rolled out a smaller update, in the form of the 2.0.6 one, which makes specific improvements to the Monk class, the legendary set item drop rate, the crafting system, and more, according to the post on the official blog.

First up, the Monk has seen a major improvement made to the Momentum passive skill, which now reduces the distance required to activate, while increasing the damage bonus provided to 20% and the duration to 6 seconds, from the standard 4 seconds.

The Barbarian has also seen the animation speed for the Leap and Earthquake abilities increase.

Patch 2.0.6 also enhances the drop rate of all class-specific armor sets, from all possible sources, including monsters, chests, destructibles, or Kadala.

The Monk's existing legendary items and set bonuses have also been increased, and this buff is retroactive, so it doesn't matter if you got the gear before the launch of the new patch. Sets affected by the stat increase are Monkey King's Garb and Raiment of a Thousand Storms. More items will be improved in future updates.

The new patch for Diablo 3 also overhauls the crafting system, as legendary crafting recipes no longer require unique crafting materials gained from certain enemies.

"Legendary crafted items are meant to be both a stepping stone into end game items and a good place to spend crafting materials at the end game. While we like the fantasy of having the unique crafting materials, obtaining them was either keeping too many people from being able to complete the recipes in a timely manner or encouraging game flipping and similar less than ideal patterns of play in order to acquire them. As such, we are removing the requirement for unique items when crafting Legendaries."

Unique crafting materials will no longer drop, while players who already have such things will be able to sell them to vendors for increased prices.

Level 70 crafted sets and legendary items with unique properties will require more Death's Breath items, while those without unique properties no longer require such a thing.

Last but not least, the details page for a character will show the damage bonuses applied to certain skills or elemental attacks, not to mention reflect the improvements via the Paragon system.

Diablo 3 patch 2.0.6 is now available for download in the Americas region and will deploy today, June 11, in Europe and Asia, via the game's launcher or the Battle.net desktop application.
