Soldak Entertainment has released a new beta patch for players of the company's casual action RPG title for Mac, Kivi's Underworld. Version 1.002 adds a variety of bug fixes and enhancements. Kivi's Underworld has players adventuring as one of 20 character classes against a variety of dangerous foes.

In Kivi's Underworld, players can either take on the role of Kivi, a young lumen warrior who has to fight the unknown, or step in the shoes of any of the 20 playable characters with unique abilities and magic spells. Gamers can also create new adventures, classes, and powerups within the game, or download some from the Internet.

Currently at version 1.002 (Beta), Kivi's Underworld adds the following changes:

• now Reward and Score are localized • updated copyright • now Door is localized • now Second/Seconds are localized • now Health is localized • now open is localized • now left click to increase on buy skills screen is localized • removed some old text from world map • added OS X 10.3.9 OpenAL installer requirement to requirements & troubleshooting sections of manual • now when you change languages it flushes out all txt files so they will load correct language • now adventure given status effects (like offense bonus) work across a save/exit/resume.

Bug fixes include:

• fixed last award not unlocking correctly • fixed Enchanter skills description • fixed a monster out of bounds in adventure 4 • fixed Lightning Blast description typo • fixed quest in Fireball Hall (not enough monsters) • fixed destroying some objects counting as kills (barrels, totems, altarts, gates, etc.) • fixed mouse on 2nd monitor in dual monitor setup.

According to Soldak Entertainment, Kivi's Underworld is meant to be played in 15-30-minute chunks, something that might not appeal to serious gamers. “Yes. We have broken the game up into separate adventures that last around 15 to 30 minutes each,” said Soldak Entertainment's Steven Peeler in an interview. “So you can play one quick adventure or you can keep playing as many adventures in a row that you want to.”
