14 DAY TRIAL // After last week Microsoft completed the trilogy of Windows 7’s Bing themes, the company took it one step further and unveiled yet another new theme pack built with content related to its search/decision engine and especially for the latest iteration of Windows. At the bottom of the screen, you will be able to find download links for the three Bing’s Best themes for Windows 7 and the new theme, which features imagery from a contest the software giant held to celebrate Earth Day.
”The Earth Day Photo Contest didn’t end on April 22. Oh, no. Participants continued redeeming DonorsChoose.org codes to support public schools, we had a blast hosting the four division winners here in Redmond and because you asked, we created a Win 7 Theme Pack with all photos from the 12 finalists,” revealed Stephanie Horstmanshof, Bing Managing Editor.
Images from the finalist entries in the Bing Earth Day student photo contest were compiled in the new theme for Windows 7 now made available for download. The picture of a bee collecting pollen was the winning image of the Bing Earth Day student photo contest, and was featured as the Bing home page background on April 22.
“Students from kindergarten to college shot these nature-loving photos to help educate the world about Earth Day - and for a chance to win great prizes from Bing. Enjoy the finalists' photos in this theme for Windows 7,” said Horstmanshof.
The Bing Earth Day student photo contest was also an excellent opportunity for participants to generate donations for classroom projects on DonorsChoose.org. According to Horstmanshof, over 110,000 were raised during the competition.
“People requested and redeemed the $5 donation codes that Bing provided during the final round of voting, impacting nearly 12,000 classroom projects across the country and more than 311,000 students. Better yet, many of them gave further still, lifting the total donation amount to nearly $140,000,” stated Horstmanshof.
