Dropbox is a cross-platform service + application that allows users to back up and sync files across all their devices, including Internet-capable portables. Users install the software on any system, feed Dropbox some files, and see them synced across all their devices. Those files are instantly available to view, edit or move.

You can have Dropbox working for you on as many systems as you wish, including your iPhone. The service is free for 2GB of storage. Your free space can be increased by telling friends about Dropbox. Paid plans are available as well, for 50GB of storage, or 100GB. The software is being updated regularly, mostly on the desktop side. A new release is available this week, predominantly filled with bug fixes. Here’s the changelog, in its entirety:

· Potential fix for the NSImageCacheException bug that people were seeing; · Fix to issues with OS X toolbar which could cause it to occasionally not appear (and spit a lot of debug output into the console); · Fix to issues with OS X toolbar that could cause button to say 'Button' or 'Drop' instead of display the Dropbox logo; · Fixed issue where context menu/shell integration would not reappear after Finder crashes; · Fixed layout issue on Linux preferences; · Minor stability fixes.

The Dropbox team has also announced Votebox, described as “a way for you to be involved in Dropbox’s development.” According to the developers, “Using Votebox is easy. All you need is a Dropbox account. You can vote for ideas that get posted on Votebox, or post your own ideas and allow people to vote on those.”

Dropbox is a Softpedia freeware pick, and a must-have for any computer user. If you’re tired of emailing files to yourself, or carrying around USB flash drives, give this app a try. It will change your life!
