Depths of Peril, the single-player action RPG (role-playing game) blending strategy elements from Soldak Entertainment, has been updated to include a truckload of additions, tweaks and bug fixes on the Macintosh platform. In the title, players take on the role of a faction leader protecting the barbarian city, Jorvik. Gamers are tasked with destroying threatening monsters and completing quests, while competing against rival factions to see who will rule the city.

The main features of Depths of Peril include a unique blend of action RPG with strategy elements; the ability to become the leader of one warring faction fighting for supremacy; the necessity to navigate relationships with enemy factions using diplomacy, trade, war, and raids; real and hard consequences from a living world; a breathing, evolving world; a deep wellspring of history (40+ short stories, 60,000+ words), and a random, seamless world.

New in version 1.014 are a series of gameplay elements summed up in the list to follow. Note that the release notes for Depths of Peril 1.014 are lengthier. Those who wish to skim through the full changelog for the latest version of the game, can visit this address.

Besides the full (paid) version of the game, Depths of Peril is also available as a demo on both Mac and PC. According to Soldak Entertainment, the demo allows players to explore only the first part of the world and to play through just a part of the storyline. Gamers will most likely endeavor buying the full version to play through the rest of the storyline, explore the full world of Depths of Peril, fight many more monster types, find and collect thousands more item types, meet and destroy new covenants and improve their characters up to level 100.
