New release brings updates, fixes and enhancements as usual

It has not been overly long since the release of the GeForce Display Driver 295.51 Beta, but the company has another driver ready, albeit for a different collection of graphics adapters.

The new software package that NVIDIA has released is aimed at PCs and workstations powered by Quadro and Tesla graphics adapters, as well as the NVS product series.

That means that the Quadro 6000, 600, 5000, 4000, 400, 2000D and 2000 device lines are just a very small part of the supported products list.

Unlike the GeForce driver, this is not a Beta, but a fully WHQL-certified installation package.

That said, the driver brings some workstation compatibility fixes, described in full on the official change log (PDF).

Additionally, some changes are made to the NVIDIA Control Panel, particularly to the “Adjust Desktop Size and Position” page and the “Set up SLI Mosaic” under Windows Vista and 7.

Moving on, the Santa Clara, California-based company was able to add compatibility with proprietary medical displays. Previously, there was no 10-bit Grayscale through DVI for Windows 7, but that has changed.

Furthermore, Direct3D applications should now be able to synchronize back buffer presets across more than one GPU (graphics processing units), whether said GPUs are part of the same system or even spread across more than one.

This capability is only usable with Quadro boards that support NVIDIA G-Sync II, though.

Finally, a new API has been added, for OpenGL path rendering, so that OpenGL applications may render high-quality text and 2D.
