Those of you who have already installed the Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview on your Windows Phone 8 devices can now grab one of the first applications to have been designed specifically for the platform, namely Movie Moments.

The software, released as version 1.0.114.425, is meant to provide users with the possibility to easily turn any video into a memorable moment that can then be shared with friends and family.

The application comes with simple, straightforward features, allowing users to easily trim a video to their favorite parts, while also enabling them to easily highlight key moments with captions and effects. Moreover, it enables them to add a music track to the video.

“With Movie Moments on Windows Phone 8.1, you can shoot a video and in 4 steps edit that video down to a clip that captures a specific moment that can easily be shared out to Facebook or to OneDrive,” Microsoft explains in a blog post.

You can start the editing process for any video by trimming it to the clip you want, then you can start adding captions to specific moments.

As soon as this step is completed, you can start adding music to it, either by downloading some songs that Movie Moments will recommend to you or by picking your own music from the device.

After adding music to the clip, you will simply have to save it to your Windows Phone 8.1 handset and then upload it to OneDrive or share it on social networks, if you want to.

The Movie Moments application has been released on Windows Phone 8.1 as a Universal App, which means that it will also work on devices running under the Windows 8.1 operating system.

In fact, Microsoft made the software available on the desktop and tablets platform before releasing it on phones.

“With Windows 8.1, we introduced an app called Movie Moments that lets you take videos you’ve taken and edit them down into a shareable 60-second clip that captures a memorable moment with captions and music,” the company explains in the aforementioned blog post.

Starting today, however, the software brings similar capabilities to devices running under the Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview, so as to enable more users to take advantage of the aforementioned features.

You can download Movie Moments for Windows Phone from Softpedia today. Keep in mind that the app will work only with Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview devices (it will be compatible with all handsets running the final version of Windows Phone 8.1, of course).
