14 DAY TRIAL // Missing those old arcade games you used to play by inserting tokens? Well, not only are they all back in a single iOS app, they’re free to play every time you want, once you’ve installed Midway Arcade on your iPhone or iPad.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment this week announced Midway Arcade for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, an application that boasts a collection of 10 classic arcade titles from the legendary development studio behind Rampage, Joust, and Spy Hunter.
You get 10 games with your $0.99 purchase (€0.79 in European territories). The base app features the aforementioned three classics, as well as four skill-based games, including Pool, Air Hockey, Roll Ball and Basketball, and three others.
An additional Fantasy Game Pack and an Action Game Pack can be purchased from within the app (via in-app purchase) for an extra six games.
The extra titles in the Fantasy Game Pack are Gauntlet I, Gauntlet II and Wizard of Wor. The Action Game Pack unlocks APB, NARC and Total Carnage.
Commenting on their new release, Greg Ballard, Senior Vice President, Digital Games, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, said “The games featured in Midway Arcade helped define the arcade gaming space and the App Store is the perfect platform to deliver these legacy games to the current generation of gamers.”
“Longtime arcade fans can reconnect with their early favorites, and new players can fall in love with these groundbreaking arcade classics,” added Ballard.
Midway Arcade is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation) and iPad. The app requires iOS 4.3 or later.
According to the app’s iTunes description, the developers have resolved a critical issue as of late. However, those who are still experiencing problems are encouraged to email [email protected] to troubleshoot their issues. An update update is likely on the way.
