The May 2007 Security Releases ISO Image is now available for download directly from Microsoft. The release comes on the heels of the Redmond Company's monthly patch cycle. On May 8, 2007, Microsoft has made available a total of seven security bulletins with a maximum severity rating critical for all. And in Microsoft's security tradition, a selection of the security updates are bundled into an ISO image and delivered for download.

However, the DVD5 ISO image file does not contain all the patches that Microsoft offered on May 8, 1007; it only includes the security updates for Windows. This means that, out of the seven May Microsoft security bulletins, only MS07-005, MS07-027 and MS07-029 have made their way into the ISO image.

"This DVD5 ISO image file contains the security updates for Windows released on Windows Update on May 8th, 2007. The image does not contain security updates for other Microsoft products. This DVD5 ISO image is intended for corporate administrators who manage large multinational organizations, who need to download multiple individual language versions of each security update and who do not use an automated solution such as Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). Use this image to download multiple updates in all languages at the same time," Microsoft revealed in the ISO image's description.

If you are considering a download, you should plan ahead because the ISO image weighs in at 1744.1 MB, and it will require a little management. Microsoft estimated that a download would take 70 hr 53 min over a 56K connection, and just 2 hr 39 min over a 1.5M connection.

The May 2007 Security and Critical Releases ISO Image was tested by Softpedia as being 100% Free and is available for download here.
