A software company going by the name of Macgo has released a Blu-ray player application that works on both Mac and PC platforms.

The developer is putting a more-than-attractive offer on the table by allowing customers to download the application and use its full set of features for free over the course of three full months.

Appropriately dubbed Mac Blu-ray Player, the program is said to be the first one that supports both Mac and PC.

It supports Blu-ray decryption and is capable of removing AACS, and BD+ without any limitations, Macgo says.

Of course, it plays everything from Blu-ray discs to VideoCD, MOV, MKV, AVI, FLV, WMV, MP4, MPEG, RMVB, MP3, WMA, AAC, AC3, as well as regular DVDs.

Like any software developer, Macgo will tell you that their app boasts an intuitive interface, and a sleek layout. After giving the app a quick spin, we can confirm that they’re not lying.

In fact, Mac Blu-ray player has such a friendly (and beautiful) interface that we recommend it to anyone looking to try out a new media player.

Since it also reads all kinds of formats, you don’t even need to be a Blu-ray fanatic to download this app. It will serve you well, whatever your taste is.

It’s also quite snappy and uses few resources (CPU, RAM), unlike most media players out there.

Those of you who are looking to use it specifically for playing back Blu-ray discs will (of course) need to provide their own Blu-ray drive, since Macs don’t come with the optical standard built-in.

Various Blu-ray drives can be found at vendors like OWC, fastmac, and amex.
